The husband of a woman found dead last month in a North Carolina lake has been charged with her murder.
Omar Matthew Ibrahim Drabick, 34, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with killing Hadeel Ghadhanfer Hikmat, 34, and concealing her death, WRAL reports.
Hikmat’s body was found in Jordan Lake on Augus 29, near Farrington Point Boat Ramp in Chatham County. Deputies suspected foul play, and the medical examiner ruled out an accident or a suicide.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, the body was identified on September 7, and police searched the home she shared with Drabick in Apex and another home in Raleigh, said by her brother to belong to Drabick’s family.
Hikmat’s brother, Firas Hikmat, told WRAL that there would now be “some justice for my sister Hadeel.”
“I’m crying right now for this man who has been arrested and I’m crying for Hadeel’s homicide,” he said.
Drabick is behind held without bond and is due in court again on Monday.
