Court documents reveal the investigators found blood and shell casings at the home of an Oklahoma teacher who was found dead in a culvert four days after she was reported missing.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the body of Makayla Meave-Byers, a 30-year-old mother of 6, was found last week wrapped in carpet in a drainage ditch beneath a rural Pottawatomie County road, just 500 yards from her home.

According to KOCO, Meave-Byers’ husband told investigators that she never came home from a September 15 date with a man she met on Facebook. The husband told investigators they have an “open” marriage.

Deputies said her cell phone last pinged at her home just after 6 p.m.

A search warrant said that Meave-Byers and her husband, Frank Byers, live in separate houses on the same property. Investigators executing the search warrant found blood on the floor and bed sheets, along with broken glass and .22 caliber shell casings.

Her husband told deputies that Meave-Byers owned a .22 caliber and that his wife kept it in his house. Investigators found the weapon near Byers’s nightstand. Investigators said the weapon had been recently fired.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office said that it had no definitive suspect, but Meave-Byer’s husband, Frank Byers, has hired an attorney, according to News 9.
