An Oklahoma man who allegedly killed his girlfriend’s 4-month-old daughter in February appeared in court on Tuesday.
Shaun Wadlow Jr., 25, was reportedly watching the infant and her 3-year-old sibling. While in Wadlow’s care, the infant suffered a severe brain injury which was consistent with child abuse and led to her death, according to KWTV.
The infant’s mother reportedly called Wadlow to ask him what he wanted for dinner. It was allegedly then when Wadlow said her daughter was unresponsive and he was not sure what to do, according to KOKH.
The infant’s mother reportedly came home and called for help. Once hospitalized, it was revealed the infant had no brain activity and that she suffered non-accidental injuries which led to cardiac arrest.
Wadlow, who is charged with first-degree murder, had a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. KWTV reported that Wadlow’s family and the victim’s family got into a verbal altercation outside of the courthouse.
Wadlow has pleaded not guilty to murder. He is due back in court on January 12.
