MOVIE WARS: Florida Moviegoer HORRIBLY Beaten After Asking Couple to Move Out of His VIP Seats

A Florida man has been arrested for violently beating a man at a movie theater this summer, leaving the victim with a broken nose and stitches, WSVN-TV reports.

On Thursday, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office detained 27-year-old Jesse Montez Thorton II in connection with the bloody incident.

The move came after authorities received an anonymous tip about Thorton’s alleged involvement, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Investigators say the victim, 63-year-old Marc Cohen, had bought VIP tickets for a viewing of a film at the AMC theater in Pompano Beach on July 10.

The tickets came with assigned seating, but when Cohen and his wife entered the theater, an unknown couple was in their seats.

A verbal altercation then ensued, followed by a physical altercation.

“He jumped up, he wanted to fight me, he backed me up, I fell over the stairs and as soon as I fell down the stairs, it was like a boxer being against the ropes. This guy just went to town on me,” Cohen told NBC 6 following the assault.

Video of the incident shows Thorton punching Cohen repeatedly in his face until others in the theater could pull Thorton away and stop the assault.

The accused attacker allegedly fled the scene with this date, while Cohen asked for medical attention and was treated at a hospital for injuries to his head and face. He suffered a broken nose and got stitches.

“I just don’t understand people, how they act that way. There’s no civility anymore,” Cohen told WPLG-TV.

Prosecutors have charged Thorton with one count of aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

He was in court on Friday and remains in custody in the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Main Jail pending a $250,000 bond.
