Teacher Accused of Raping 12-Year-Old Arrested Again for Stalking, Harassment of Victim

A Tennessee teacher accused of raping a 12-year-old student is back in jail after authorities say she threatened the victim in a text message, WMC-TV reports.

On Thursday, police in Covington arrested 38-year-old Alissa McCommon on charges of coercion of a witness, aggravated stalking, tampering with evidence and harassment in connection with the latest allegations.

Authorities say McCommon, a mother of two, texted the male victim using a different phone number and told him that he would “regret doing this,” according to a press release from the Covington Police Department.

“The evidence indicates McCommon texted a victim, using a specific code word known to the juvenile as a code word McCommon would previously utilize to confirm that the juvenile was alone, often before sending nude photographs on SnapChat,” the press release states.

McCommon allegedly admitted in the latest text messages that she had a sexual encounter with the child. The victim reported receiving the messages to police and officers arrested McCommon the same day. She was again booked into the Tipton County Jail and is being detained without bond.

After her earlier arrest on September 8, McCommon had posted a $25,000 bond and was freed. But as part of that arrangement, she was prohibited from communicating with the boy.

“The actions of McCommon are not only appalling, but CPD is also concerned about this apparent violation of her bond conditions. Due to the nature of the communications, we are concerned others may have been contacted,” Covington Police Chief Donna Turner said in the press release.

Authorities have also alleged that McCommon sought to befriend and engage in inappropriate online relationship with former students, including allegations that she sent explicit images and sought sex with them.

The fourth-grade teacher was fired August 24 from her job as a teacher at Charger Academy in Covington, about 40 miles northeast of Memphis.

McCommon has denied the allegations.
