Officials said a California woman who was found dead in her home last month died of homicidal violence.
Model Maleesa Mooney, 31, was found dead at her Los Angeles apartment on September 12. Her sister told KTLA that Mooney was two months pregnant at the time of her death.
KTTV reported that the Los Angeles County medical examiner originally listed Mooney’s cause of death as deferred, but it was later listed as homicidal violence and “other significant conditions.”
Mooney’s sister told KTLA that she believes Mooney’s cause of death was initially unclear because she was beaten so badly.
No arrests have been made in Mooney’s death and little is still known about her slaying. Two days before Mooney was found dead Nichole Coats, another model, was found dead in her apartment three miles away from Mooney’s home.
Like Mooney, no arrests have been made in Coats’ death. However, Los Angeles police previously said they have no evidence indicating the two cases are linked despite the women’s similarities.
Police reportedly told KTLA this week that they have no updates in regards to both cases.
