An Oklahoma woman who was found dead in July — in a lake alongside her ex-husband — was asphyxiated and stabbed, according to a recently-released medical examiner’s report.
The bodies of Candace Kehoe, 26, and George Kehoe, 27, were discovered in Claremore Lake a day after the woman’s car was found at her ex-husband’s home. Investigators previously said that George Kehoe died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound, but KOKI reported that his ex-wife’s death was a homicide.
According to the news outlet, the couple was in a child custody battle at the time of their deaths. Records also indicated that there was allegations of abuse and protective orders before the apparent murder-suicide.
“From what I know and what she has told me in the past, he said, ‘Let’s talk about the girls, let’s talk’ or something, because her vehicle was found at his house,” the slain woman’s stepmother told KOTV in July. “I begged and pleaded with her to just let the courts deal with it.”
