A Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly carjacking her mother after an argument.
The Cocoa Beach Police Department said that Amber Scheuren-Rusnak, 25, has been charged with aggravated battery and carjacking in the incident, which took place about noon on Thursday, WOFL reported.
Jail records show she has also been charged with aggravated abuse of an elderly person, larceny, and resisting arrest. She has multiple previous arrests, including one last month when she was charged with domestic battery.
Police say a witness reported the incident in a 911 call, although they did not say what the witness saw. They arrived and found Scheuren-Rusnak’s mother, who was taken in the hospital in critical but stable condition.
Scheuren-Rusnak was gone when officers arrived, but the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office located the car abandoned a few miles away. A deputy with a K9 officer found her trying to hide nearby and she was taken into custody.
No further details were released.
