Rottweiler Mauls Michigan Woman After She Feeds It THC Gummy

A Rottweiler brutally mauled a Michigan woman earlier this month after she fed it a THC gummy, leaving the dog owner severely injured and her home covered in blood, The Smoking Gun reports.

The incident happened October 5 in Gaylord, Michigan, and resulted in the dog being euthanized.

According to a police report obtained by the news outlet, the unidentified woman told authorities that she fed the 2-year-old, 82-pound Rottweiler named Blau a cannabis gummy.

At some point after, the dog “came into the bathroom while she was on the toilet and ripped her off the seat,” according to The Smoking Gun, citing the police report.

The woman told responders that she fought with the dog for an hour and eventually managed to lock herself in a room.

While animal control officers reportedly found the dog in a “subdued” state and were able to catch and cage it, Otsego County Animal Control Director Melissa FitzGerald told mlive.com the attack left “a very bad scene.”

The incident report details “a lot of blood on the living room carpet” and that a nearby hall also contained “an immense amount of blood on the floor and walls,” according to The Smoking Gun.

Responders found the woman lying face up on a bed that was covered in blood. She was rushed to a hospital and was intensive care. A family member said the woman nearly lost her right arm, describing the injuries as “not much left of the area between her shoulder and her elbow,” according to The Smoking Gun.

The woman’s father’s reportedly told investigators that his daughter was “going through a bad divorce” at the time of the incident and that “the dog was very stressed,” according to the police report obtained The Smoking Gun.

Loved ones of the woman expressed a desire to kill the dog themselves, but a veterinarian humanely euthanized it on October 17.

FitzGerald advised that THC gummies are not safe for pets.

Gaylord is about 230 miles northwest of Detroit.
