A Texas woman is dead and her husband in critical condition after he killed his wife and failed to kill himself early Wednesday.

Houston police have not yet named the couple but said the stabbing took place in front of their 8-year-old daughter, KRIV reported.

“Daddy’s stabbing mommy,” the little girl told officers who forced their way into the home.

Police said they were called to the home by the woman, who said that her husband was having a mental episode and was walking around the house with a knife. When they initially arrived, they heard no sounds from inside the house.

“The call came in initially as we believe the mother, the wife, called in stating that her husband was having a major crisis, was running around with a knife, thinking about suicidal thoughts,” HPD Lt. R. Willkens, who said the call came in about 4 a.m., said.

After walking around to the back, they saw the little girl running towards the front door.

“So they go back to the front door, make entry, go inside. The little girl said, Daddy’s stabbing Mommy,” Willkens said.

The officers found the couple in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds. Medics pronounced the woman dead on the scene, and the man was taken to a hospital.

The little girl was not physically injured.

Police have not identified the couple or said what charges the killer will face if he is released from the hospital.
