The family of slain Texas woman, Teressa Ferguson, is relieved to have answers, following her untimely death in a road rage incident that left her dead.
Austin police arrested Justin Justice, 28, on October 31, following a September 30 road rage incident that left Ferguson dead. Investigators said Justice shot Ferguson during a fender-bender incident on I-35 near Rundberg.
Ferguson was driving home from work when she had a minor crash with Justice at around 6 p.m. When she got out of her car to exchange insurance information, Justice allegedly shot her before fleeing the scene.
Police captured Justice on Halloween as he fled on foot in Round Rock, near I-35 and A.W. Grimes Boulevard.
“I think everybody in the family took a big sigh of relief,” Teressa Ferguson’s aunt and uncle, Brad andBeth Shackelford, told Fox 7. “Deep breath finally after over a month.”
According to court records, Justice is a convicted sex offender who failed to register his sex offender status in 2022. He was out on bond when the shooting happened.
Family members told Fox 7 that Ferguson was a kind soul who loved dogs and traveling.
“She had a great sense of humor. Always a big smile, contagious laughter,” Beth said. “I just really want everybody to remember that she was our family member, niece, daughter, sister, and this should have never happened, should never happen to anyone.”
Meanwhile, Justice remains behind bars on a $250,000 bond. He’s facing a first-degree murder charge.
“He was already out on bond, and then while out on bond, he kills a stranger,” Brad added. “An innocent woman who posed no threat.”
