The person of interest in connection with a missing Florida mother, Shakeira Rucker, has a criminal history that her family says they never knew about.
According to WFTV9, suspect Cory Hill was sentenced to prison in 1993 for attempted murder. Court records indicate he was sentenced to serve 20 years, unbeknownst to Rucker’s family.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Rucker’s children told police they last saw her at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday while leaving her Winter Springs home off Golf Terrace Drive. Loved ones said she may have left with her estranged husband, Hill, but she didn’t say where she was going and has not contacted them.
“He had like a history we never knew,” family member Dedra Rucker said. “He was supposed to be a man of God in the church. We never knew.”
On Sunday at 10:20 a.m., police arrived at a scene in Orange County, off Holly Creek Road, after Hill allegedly pulled a firearm on a woman. Police said the woman was not Rucker. Hill reportedly fired shots at the woman and her family before leaving the scene.
Police subsequently caught up with him and booked him in jail Monday on four counts of attempted murder charges. WESH 2 reports that the victim, Angel Milligan, had dated Hill in the past but she broke up with him after learning he was married.
“I heard gunfire. I felt two of them pass by my face, went running in fear for my life,” Milligan said.
Meanwhile, Ruckus remains missing. Her mother, Elaine, said the family has been posting flyers and hoping someone will come forward with information on Rucker.
“He was a person that didn’t put people in his business and he was distant from family. He stayed far off he didn’t let nobody in his business,” Rucker’s mother, Elaine, told Click Orlando, about Hill.
“How would any mother feel not being able to see their child it’s heartbreaking not knowing where she’s at?”
Winter Park police reportedly indicated that video footage from an “unspecified location in Polk County” showed Rucker and Hill together on Saturday evening.
“It’s hard not knowing nothing, not knowing where to start, it’s hard. She has four kids, four kids. They need her,” Dedra Rucker added.
Rucker is described as a 37-year-old Black female with hair braids, last seen wearing a blue Nike outfit.
Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is urged to contact investigator Tracy Fugate at 407-327-6561 or tfugate@winterspringsfl.org.
