Memphis police found a man dead early Sunday morning after searching for him overnight for killing three women and a 13-year-old girl and wounding another teen girl.
The victims were shot in three separate shootings in south Memphis, WREG reported. Police said they first responded to a shooting in southwest Memphis just after 5:30 p.m., finding the 13-year-old girl and a woman dead on the scene. A 15-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
About an hour later, a woman was found shot to death in southeast Memphis. Officers found the 5th victim, another woman, in the Whitehaven neighborhood, less than mile from Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion.
Memphis police said they connected the three scenes to 52-year-old Mavis Christian Jr., who was related to all the victims, and launched a manhunt for him.
At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force found Christian dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, inside a Chevy Malibu on Alta Road, also in south Memphis.
Investigators have not released the identities of Christian’s victims but said it was a “domestic violence incident.”
