An Idaho father accused of killing his wife and kidnapping his 10-month-old son has been arrested, and the baby boy found dead.
Idaho State Police issued an Amber Alert for Zeke Best early Friday morning after Teton County deputies found Kali Jean Randall, the boy’s 38-year-old mother, dead in her home, as CrimeOnline reported. They said they believed the boy’s father, 48-year-old Jeremy Best, had killed Randall and fled with the boy.
Randall was pregnant with the couple’s second child, family members said.
Hunters found a naked man in a sleeping bag alongside the road near Idaho Falls in Bonneville County, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office. The man was “making odd statements,” the sheriff’s office said. Deputies arrived at the scene and identified the man as Best. He was taken into custody after medics cleared him.
Police located Best’s vehicle nearby, off the road and down an embankment. The baby was found dead at the scene, but police did not say if he was found in vehicle or if they believed there was a crash.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the victims involved in this case,” the Bonneville Sheriff’s Office said in an announcement Saturday.
Best was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on the outstanding warrant from Teton County.
