A heavily tattooed Texas man has been charged with beating, stabbing, and leaving a woman for dead in a pasture, all while wearing an ankle monitor for an unspecified crime.
The unidentified woman was found Friday afternoon rolled up in plastic with her throat slashed, according to the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken to a San Antonio hospital, where she was listed in serious but stable condition.
Deputies and the San Antonio Police Department determined Roger Gonzalez, 31, was the likely perpetrator and tracked him to a home in San Antonio, where he was arrested on Saturday.
He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was initially given a $40,000 bail. The justice of the peace who set that bail withdrew it Sunday morning before Gonzalez could post it and get out of jail, however, and a judge reset the bond at $275,000.
