Socialite Had Affair with Teen in Bahamas Vacation Home Before Plotting Husband’s Murder: Report

A Georgia woman who was arrested in the Bahamas in July for plotting her husband’s murder allegedly had an affair with an 18-year-old last year.

The Daily Mail reported that Lindsay Shiver had an affair with the teen at a vacation home in Abaco. Robert Shiver, 38, allegedly learned of his wife’s infidelity from her Apple watch, but he stayed in the marriage for their three sons, aged 4, 10, and 11.

According to the Daily Mail, Robert Shiver learned of his wife’s other affair in February. In that instance, Lindsay Shiver allegedly had a tryst with Terrance Bethel, 28, a Bahamian bartender who allegedly participated in the foiled murder-for-hire plot targeting her husband.

The suspected hitman, Farron Newbold, 29, was also arrested in connection with the plot, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

According to police, the alleged murder plot was exposed after a break-in at a bar where Bethel worked. While investigating the incident, police seized Bethel’s phone and reportedly saw messages to and from Bethel that implicated him, Lindsay Shiver, and Newbold.

Court records show that Robert Shiver filed for divorce in April upon discovering that Lindsay Shiver was engaging in “adulterous conduct” by having an affair with Bethel, blowing apart the couple’s marriage.

Robert Shiver’s petition sought primary custody of the kids and exclusive use of their $2.5 million house; he also contended he shouldn’t have to pay Shiver alimony.

At a previous court hearing, Lindsay Shiver responded by alleging that her husband subjected her to “physical and mental cruel treatment,” which included domestic violence. She also denied the affair, with her lawyers writing in a court filing that “any extramarital relationship defendant has had was during the parties’ separation and legally condoned by husband.”

Lindsay Shiver was released from jail in July but is required to remain in the Bahamas with an ankle monitor and abide by an 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew. She was ordered to surrender her travel documents and stay away from her husband.
