Man Who Spoke with Crystal Rogers’ Boyfriend Before Her 2015 Disappearance Now Charged in Her Murder

On Wednesday, bail was set at $500,000 for the third suspect charged in the presumed death of a Kentucky woman who vanished in 2015.

Steve Lawson, who allegedly talked on the phone with Crystal Rogers’ boyfriend, Brooks Houck, the night Rogers disappeared, was charged with criminal conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. WDRB  reported that Lawson was indicted in May — while his son, Joseph Lawson, and Houck, his employer, were charged in September.

Rogers was last seen attending a party at a barn in Bardstown belonging to Houck’s mother. Her body was never found.

Steve Lawson’s son is facing the same charges as him. Houck was charged with complicity to murder and tampering with physical evidence.

During a police interrogation, Houck reportedly called Steve Lawson — who allegedly explained that they talked on the phone about rental properties the night Rogers vanished. Steve Lawson claimed that Houck said at the time that he had to get information about the rental properties from Rogers and he would call back, according to WHAS.

Houck remains jailed on $10 million bail. Steve Lawson’s arraignment is scheduled for December 21.
