A Houston mother was shot to death early Friday morning and her three children assaulted, and one of the children told police their father was the perpetrator.
Assistant Police Chief Wyatt Martin told KPRC they were called to the southeast Houston home at about 1:30 a.m. for “a man assaulting three children in the street.” When they arrived, they found the man believed to be the father on the roof of a neighbor’s home and two little girls in the street who appeared to have been assaulted.

One of the the girls, between 8 and 10 years old, told officers their father shot their mother. Police searched the home and found a 3- to 4-year-old boy with similar injuries to his sisters and a woman shot dead in a back bedroom. The middle child was 5- to 6-years-old.
Martin said the young boy was in “worse condition” than his older sisters. The children have been hospitalized.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, was taken into custody. Martin said he may have been “impaired.” Both the man and his victim are in their mid-30s.
Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and said the couple had been arguing for weeks, KHOU reported. Police said they had been called to the house previously for domestic violence.
