4-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead by Road Rager

A 4-year-old boy was shot dead Friday evening when an angry driver opened fire into his family’s vehicle.

The boy was in the back seat and struck by gunfire in the upper body, police told the Los Angeles Times. His parents rushed him to a hospital, but it was too late, and he was pronounced dead.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call and found the suspect’s vehicle not far from the shooting scene. They arrested a 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.

Police said the suspects followed the family through several side streets until the driver of the family car slowed, which prompted the suspects to stop alongside the car and start shooting, the sheriff’s department said.

Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris said newly installed security cameras, along with the victim’s dash camera, helped find the murderer, KCBS reported.

Investigators have not released the names of the suspect nor the victims.
