A Florida man found dead in a trash can on Tuesday was wanted for trying to kill his ex-wife the day before.

Miami-Dade Police said that Armando Benavides, 54, apparenlty crawled in to a garbage bin in Miami’s West Kendall area and shot himself, according to WPLG. Police found a gun in the bin with the body.

A county waste truck driver saw the body fall into his truck, WTVJ reported.

Benavides had been living with his ex-wife and their two children, one an adult and the other 17, police said.

The ex-wife suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but police had been looking for him for the shooting.
