Maryland police have arrested a 62-year-old man for a cold case rape from 1992.
Xavier Battice was extradited from California last week to stand trial, the Montgomery County Police Department said.
Battice was identified via DNA from the September 24, 1992, rape in Chevy Chase. Detectives say the victim got off a bus on Wisconsin Avenue, and Battice followed her, then took her to a nearby park and raped her before fleeing the scene.
After the identification, detectives tracked Battice to Morgan Hill, California, and notified police there. The Morgan Hill Police Department arrested him and held him until he could be extradited.
Battice has been charged with two counts of second degree rape and one count of second degree sexual assault.
