Police in Florida are looking for a 39-year-old violent criminal who killed a man in a crowded mall on Saturday afternoon and wounded a woman.
Albert J. Shell Jr’s most recent — of many — arrests came in July when he slammed his girlfriend’s head onto the bathroom tile and choked her because he thought she was cheating him, Law&Crime reported. Her 6-year-old son, who witnessed the attack on his mother, later told police that Shell “punched and kicked and punched mommy” and “mommy needed to say sorry to make it better.”
Shell was also charged with witness intimidation after he called the victim a “snake” for telling police what happened.
Despite his violent history in the state of Florida, he was out of jail on Sunday when he intentionally shot down David Nathaniel Barron, 40, at the Paddock Mall in Ocala. Police have obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of first degree murder and attempted first degree murder, although they have not revealed a motive for the premediated attack.
The woman who was shot received non-life-threatening injuries and was not named, as CrimeOnline reported. It’s not clear if she was targeted or was struck by stray gunfire.
Police said Shell left his gun at the mall and that they are looking for another man who took Shell’s hat after the killer dropped it. They are offering a $5,000 reward for Shell’s capture.
The mall did not reopen after the shooting on Sunday or Monday.
