‘She’s My Wife’: ‘Delusional’ Texas Man Charged With Stalking Pop Star Shakira

A Texas man was arrested early Monday morning when he showed up in a cab at pop star Shakira’s Miami Beach home after sending her gifts and making multiple social media posts about his “relationship” with her.

Daniel John Valtier, 56, was charged with stalking and and hiring a vehicle with intent to defraud for not paying his $70 taxi fare, WTVJ reported.

The Colombian singer’s security team had already given police the social media posts Valtier made and told him to stop sending gifts and making the posts, which included claims that he had relationships with her children and would adopt them when they were married.

“We will own a trucking business sing songs promote manage and own a garment manufacturing corporation worldwide,” one post on Valtier’s Instagram page read.

But when an Instagram post said Valtier was heading for Shakira’s home and included a business card for a Florida motel, the security team became alarmed.

Police were waiting when he arrived just before 1 a.m. Monday, and he was taken into custody.

In court on Tuesday, prosecutors sought a $50,000 bond. When the judge ordered him to stay away from Shakira and her home, Valtier told the judge no.

“She’s my wife,” Valtier said. “I speak to her all the time.”

“No, sir, she is not your wife,” the judge replied. ” I have some concerns, real concerns right now, because this man is delusional.”

The judge promptly doubled his bond to $100,000.
