Weatherford, Texas, Police Chief Angelo Orefice awarded K9 Jack with a purple heart award this week for his bravery in helping take down a fugitive last November. Jack was shot in the ear and paw while officers and deputies served a warrant, and Orefice said he had “no doubt” the dog drew the fire, protecting officers.

The presentation was made at a City Council meeting, and the city council gave Jack a goodie box with treats and toys, including his favorite squeeze cheese.
