A 45-year-old Colorado man murdered two young children before taking his own life
James “Jake” Hill was reportedly involved in a child custody case filed last October, according to KCNC.
The Routt County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies were called to conduct a welfare check in the tiny town of Phippsburg on Saturday and “made entry” to the house. They found Hill and two children, ages 3 and 7, dead inside.
“THIS IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS A MURDER/SUICIDE AND THERE IS NO KNOWN DANGER TO OUR COMMUNITY,” the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office did not say how the murder-suicide was committed but offered “condolences” to everyone affected.
