Loved ones of a Louisiana grandmother who died after her SUV was carjacked say the teen who violently attacked her deserves the sentence he received, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
On Friday, a judge ruled that 18-year-old John Honore should spend the rest of his life behind bars, although he will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
The sentencing decision came after family members blasted Honore for his role in killing 73-year-old Linda Frickey while stealing her vehicle.
“When you take your last breath, may the only thing you hear be the hellhounds coming for you, to drag you’re a** back down to where you belong,” Frickey’s sister-in-law, Kathy Richard, told the court, according to WWL-TV.
“Personally, I hope you don’t make it out of there, and that those hellhounds come after you quick.”
On March 21, 2022, Honore and three other teens carjacked Frickey in the Mid-City section of New Orleans. Police were called around 1:35 p.m. and found her body on the ground with an arm severed.

Authorities allege that Honore pepper-sprayed the grandmother and then punched and kicked her to force her out of the vehicle. She became tangled in a seat belt and was dragged more than 700 feet while the teens were fleeing. Her arm became severed after striking a utility pole cable.
Three other teens pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter and have been sentenced to 20 years in prison in connection with the brutal attack, according to WDSU-TV. They were identified as Briniyah Baker, 17, and Lenyra Theophile and Mar’Qel Curtis, both 16.
A lawyer for Honore and his family members told the court that he was abused as a child and grew up in unstable environment, according to the Times-Picayune.
Frickey’s family say they believe justice has been served.
“There is no remorse, he got what he deserved. He did it,” Jinnylynn Griffin, Frickey’s sister, said while speaking with journalists outside the courthouse, according to WWL-TV.
