Indianapolis police have arrested an 18-year-old man for the mruder of a 77-year-old grandmother.
Mary Sims was found dead Friday night with “undisclosed” trauma, according to WXIN. Her granddaughter identified her to the station on Monday.
Police detained Zakii Dawson, identified as a “friend of the family” in an online fundraiser, as a person of interest and later charged him with murder, the station said. Police have not specified his relationship with Sims other than to say they were known to each other.
Police reports say that they were called to Sims’ home twice in the past three weeks for disturbances involving Dawson, the most recent on Thursday.
Dawson is due in court Wednesday.
