Hydi Cain

Where is Hydi Cain?: Straight-A Student Flees Home Wearing Only Pajamas, No Shoes

A Georgia mother is pleading for assistance in finding her 16-year-old child who vanished after an apparent emotional breakdown.

According to police, Hydi Cain was last seen on January 7 at her Fayetteville home at around midnight. Her mother, Sidney Fyffe told CrimeOnline’s Nancy Grace that she had been talking to Hydi about her recent life decisions, but reiterated that the conversation never turned into an argument and didn’t

“It wasn’t an explosive argument,” Sidney said, recalling that the talk was amicable before Hydi said she was going to bed for the night.

Twenty minutes later, Sidney heard Hydi yelling at someone while on her Macbook. Moments later, Hydi fled the home with her mother’s car keys.

“The next thing I know, my front door slammed,” Sydney said. “And I realized she has the car keys…I go to pull the keys out of the car and she puts the car in reverse and hits the gas as hard as she can.”

Sidney said she managed to stop the car, but Hydi jumped out of the vehicle and ran away, wearing only her pajamas and no shoes. Sidney contacted Fayetteville police, who are now classifying the case as a runaway case.

Sidney, however, is extremely concerned with her daughter’s mental state and feels there could be someone else involved.

“Where is my baby? Is she hurt? Is she hungry? Is someone exploiting her?” Sidney asked through tears. “Is she alive?”

Hydi is described as a white female who stands 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs around 130 pounds. She has blonde hair and hazel eyes. According to Sydney, Hydi is a straight-A student at Georgia Connections Academy and logged in for class on both January 8 and January 9.

“Anyone harboring a runaway will be prosecuted,” Grace added. “You will go to jail. You cannot encourage a child to run away or stay away from home. If this girl does not have control of her faculties, this could be a kidnap.”

“Whoever has Hydi Cain, I will do everything in my power to see that you are behind bars.”

Anyone with any information on Hydi’s whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Lindsey Fogler at 770-460-4243 or contact Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with search expenses.
