A man missing in central Georgia since late December has been found inside the chimney of a Macon home.
Anthony Rumplik, 43, was renting the home where his body was found, WMAZ reported.
Rumplik, from Ohio, was driving through Georgia last year on his way to Florida when his vehicle broke down. He decided to stay in Macon, but was last seen on December 28.
Rumplik’s landlord found the door open and said the scene inside the house looked suspicious, so he called his tenant’s family.
The family came to Georgia last week and organized a search, passing out flyers and called Rumplik’s name on a bullhorn.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said they were called Friday night at about 9 p.m. about the body in the chimney and called the Bibb Fire Department to help remove it.
Coroner Leon Jones said he believes Rumplik had been dead since he was reported missing.
The body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy to determine cause of death. The sheriff’s office says it will release more information as it becomes available.
