Florida K9 Tracks Missing Girl to Locked Park Bathroom

A Florida police dog found a missing 11-year-old girl Friday night, trapped in a locked park bathroom in Hillsborough County.

The girl was reported missing just before 8 p.m. Friday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputy Sarah Ernstes and K9 Mary Lu tracked her to a neighbor’s house, where residents reported they gave her a ride to an apartment complex in Wimauma.

Ernstes and Mary Lu again tracked the girl, this time to a locked bathroom in a nearby park.

“Our deputies located the missing girl inside the locked bathroom and were able to successfully talk her into unlocking the door, where she was found safe and without injury,” the sheriff’s office said.
