A man was arrested in Kenya on Monday, months after his girlfriend was found dead in a garage at a Massachusetts airport.
Sources told WBTS that federal authorities apprehended Kevin Kangethe, 40, in Nairobi and he is awaiting extradition. Kangethe had been missing since his girlfriend, Margaret Mbitu, was found with lacerations to her face, neck, and side in his car at Boston Logan International Airport’s central parking garage on November 1.

Kangethe is believed to have immediately boarded a plane to Kenya following the slaying. Mbitu’s body was discovered a day after Kangethe purchased the ticket.
Kangethe’s car was reportedly seen on surveillance footage in Lowell and Chelsea — corresponding with Mbitu’s cell phone GPS data. Footage allegedly also showed him leaving the airport parking garage before boarding the flight to Kenya.
Mbitu’s family said she was trying to end the relationship with Kangethe before she was killed.
Mbitu, a nurse, was last seen leaving work in Halifax on October 30. According to the Daily Voice, police said Kangethe was captured at a nightclub in Nairobi.
WFXT reported that Kangethe is expected to have a court hearing in Kenya before he is extradited to face murder charges in Massachusetts.
