A Pennsylvania mother has been arrested after she allegedly abandoned her 15-year-old son to move to New Jersey with her boyfriend.
The Mannheim Township Police Department said that Tiffani Chanel Bogroff, 45, was arrested Saturday in Pennsville, New Jersey, after they launched an investigation and secured a warrant for her arrest on January 12, when they conducted a welfare check and found a juvenile living alone in the house with no heat, aside from a space heater in one room, or running water.
The victim told officers at the time that Bogroff moved to New Jersey about a month earlier but returns “on occasion” and sometimes sends money via CashApp.
“The victim stays at the house alone and is responsible for the care of two dogs and a cat,” police wrote, and communicates with his mother only through Facebook Messenger.
Police did not provide the age of the juvenile, but WHP reported that the child is a 15-year-old boy.
“The house is cluttered, containing trash and spoiled/rotten food,” police said. “The victim stated that they sometimes attend school, but they find it difficult to wake up in the morning since they are alone. A relative reported that they periodically took the victim to the grocery store and brought them to the relative’s home to shower and wash clothes.”
According to WHP, the boy’s grandmother told police that Bogroff “abandoned” him.
Bogroff has been charged with endangering the welfare of the child.
