CrimeOnline’s Nancy Grace is teaming up with Dr. Phil and a new TV network that will air back-to-back true crime shows.
Grace’s “Crime Stories” show will join a lineup on a television network launching under Merit Street Media. According to Variety, the company is backed and developed by Phil McGraw, along with Trinity Broadcasting.
Grace’s program delves into current true crime stories and also covers cold cases that unveil new leads. She aims to bring attention to cases to provide closure to families still wrestling with lingering questions.
Along with “Crime Stories,” a four-hour block will be dedicated to additional shows that include True Crime: Dr. Phil,” along with the classic Dr. Phil episodes. Also included in the four-block are “JAIL,” “COPS,” and “The Behavior Panel.”
“I am so proud to be part of Dr. Phil’s new endeavor, Merit Street Media,” Grace said in a statement. “I can now take the mission to fight crime and let the voices of crime victims be heard to an incredible new platform. As a crime fighter and victim of violent crime myself, this message is my life’s work.”
Merit Street Media anticipates distributing its new programming lineup through cable, satellite, and broadcast stations and has currently secured “commitments already exceeding 65 million television homes,” according to Variety.
“Nancy is an unmatched expert and legend in this field,” McGraw said. “She is a longtime friend which makes her joining Merit Street even more special.”
Merit Street is scheduled to launch on February 26. Additional shows and presenters are slated to be announced over the next weeks.
