Body Found in Container on Vermont River in Search for Missing Woman

Police in Vermont are investigating after finding the body of a woman in a large container on a river sandbar in Missisquoi State Park.

The discovery was made during the search for 29-year-old Kayla Wright, who was reported missing on Saturday, according to Vermont State Police.

The remains, found on a sandbar along the Missisquoi River, have been sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington to determine her identity and cause of death.

Police were also executing a search warrant at a home on state Route 100 in Troy that they said was connected with the death investigation, WPTZ reported.

Wright was last seen early Friday morning, investigators said, but she had no further contact with friends or family after that time. Police said there were concerns for her welfare.
