Two people are in custody after a Wisconsin woman was found dead in a car after a crash in Fond du Lac on Tuesday.
Fond du Lac Police identified the victim as Ashley Calo, 33, and said a 3-year-old child was found in the passenger seat unharmed. Police did not identify the child, but Calo’s grandmother said on Facebook that the toddler was Calo’s son.
Investigators say the crash and Calo’s death are connected to another crime scene near a strip mall just yards away from the crash site. A man who worked in the area shared photos of the scene showing police evidence markers denoting a weapon and pool of blood, WBAY reported.
Detectives say community members led them to a 20-year-old woman as a person of interest in Calo’s death and a 21-year-old man suspected of harboring a felon.
Police said they have charged Annaka Winter Trudell with first-degree reckless homicide, although they have not explained how she is connected with Calo’s death.
