Colorado Springs Police are investigating the shooting deaths of two people in a dormitory at the University of Colorado campus in that city.
Investigators said they were called to the scene at about 6 a.m. by campus police, who put the school campus on lockdown.
The department said that two people were found dead, each with at least one gunshot wound.
“At this point in our investigation, this incident does not appear to be a murder-suicide and both deaths are being investigated as homicides,” the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement released later in the day.
The campus was closed after the incident, and officials said it would remain closed for all activities for the weekend, KKTV reported.
At about 9:30 a.m., the shelter in place order was lifted for all but the immediate area of the shooting. The school said it was providing support staff for those needing it.
Officials have not said if the victims were students.
