A Pennsylvania man has been charged with fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend on Friday after officers saw him chase her down, tackle her, and repeatedly stab her.
Trevor Christopher Weigel, 23, was charged with criminal homicide, burglary, possession of an instrument of crime, disorderly conduct, and harassment and ordered held without bail, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said.
Lower Makefield Township officers responded to the home of Jaden Battista, 19, on a burglary call Friday afternoon. The first officer to arrive saw Weigel initially standing next to a Ford Mustang with the door open and then chasing a Battista. The officer rushed over and found Battista “bleeding heavily from the chest” while Weigel fled toward Interstate 295 on foot.
Weigel was seen stabbing himself in the neck as he ran.
The officer attended to Battista, who died after being taken to a hospital.
Other Makefield Township officers chased down Weigel and took him to a hospital for treatment of his self-inflicted injuries. They also found a bloody knife at the scene.
Investigators learned that Battista had been Facetiming with a friend when Weigel, her ex-boyfriend, showed up and began banging on the door and trying to get inside. The friend said that they heard Battista say Weigel had gotten into the house through a first-floor window and then heard a commotion and a thump, as Battista’s voice became muffled.
The call was then terminated. The friend said they tried to call back, but the calls went unanswered.
