A 3-year-old boy was found Tuesday night in a bathtub at his home with his throat slit.
One of the toddler’s relatives called a family friend to the house in Lancaster, California, a source not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation told the Los Angeles Times. That friend found the boy in the tub and called 911.
The Times said a release from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said the boy had a “laceration to the upper torso.”
KTLA identified the boy as David Jacques Hernandez.
Deputies also found a man at the home suffering from an unspecified medical emergency. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition but was not identified.
The toddler’s three older siblings — ages 9, 11, and 14 — were taken into custody and were still at the sheriff’s department as of noon on Wednesday. It’s not clear if they are possible suspects, the Times said.
The sheriff’s department said the family had no prior contacts with the Department of Children and Family Services.
