An Indiana woman was arrested last week for allegedly killing her 2-week-old daughter last year.
According to WXIN, Aaliyah Lykins’ newborn suffocated in October 2023 after she fell asleep while breastfeeding her in bed. Muncie fire crews who responded to the home reportedly found the baby limp and not breathing before she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“Oh no, I did it again,” Lykins allegedly told EMS personnel at the time.
Reports indicated that this was the second time one of Lykins’ children died due to co-sleeping. According to The Kansas City Star, Lykins’ 2-month-old son died in October 2020 while in bed with her.
Following the death of her son, Lynkins reportedly told police that she knew it was wrong to have him in bed with her. Despite this, she was never charged in that case.
Lykins is charged with reckless homicide and one count of neglect of a dependent in the death of her daughter. It is unclear whether she remains in custody.
