California Nurse Sexually Assaults Unconscious Patient, Possibly More Victims: Police

A California nurse is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a patient who was undergoing treatment at a Riverside hospital.

According to the Riverside Police Department, 27-year-old Jacob Daniel Hartman is facing charges that include sexual battery of an unconscious person.

The incident reportedly happened in January at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Riverside. A female victim said she had been receiving for several days when a male employee assaulted her, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Hartman. He was arrested and taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center.

“Given the nature of these crimes, Sexual Assault-Child Abuse Unit Detectives believe there may be other victims who have not come forward yet,” the Riverside Police Department said in a press release.

The hospital released the following statement after Hartman’s arrest.

“At Kaiser Permanente, safe and high-quality care are always our top priorities. As soon as we learned of this serious accusation, we immediately cooperated with law enforcement and started an internal investigation. At this time, the individual is no longer employed by Kaiser Permanente.”
