Eight Philadelphia high school students were shot at a transit bus stop in the city’s northeast.

Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said three gunmen got out of a vehicle near a Dunkin’ store and opened fire as students from Northeast High School were waiting for a bus, WPVI reported.

A 16-year-old boy was shot nine times and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The other seven — two 15-year-olds, four 16-year-olds, and a 17-year-old — were all listed in stable condition.

Bethel said more than 30 shots were fired.

Investigators said the three suspects and a driver fled the scene in a dark blue Hyundai wit hpaper tags. They were all wearing masks and were last seen headed in the direction of Cheltenham Township.

School district Superintendent Tony Watlington said that counselors would be at the school on Thursday.

“We are just absolutely heartbroken and angry that innocent children walking away from school will be impacted by gun violence,” said Watlington.

Bethel said that investigators are looking to see if the shooting might be related to the fatal shooting of another high school student on Monday in the nearby Ogontz neighborhood. That shooting also took place at a bus stop. Dayemen Taylor, 17, was among a group of teenagers waiting for a bus on Monday when two gunmen walked up and opened fire. Taylor was a student at Imhotep Institute Charter High School. Four other people were wounded.
