Police investigating a report of a missing child on Saturday found an 8-year-old dead.

WKOW said the Rock County Sheriff’s Office found the child inside a home after they were called shortly after 6 p.m. but did not say if it was the same home where the call about the missing child originated.

Deputies took a “person of interest” into custody, but absolutely no other information was released, other than to say there is no threat to the public.

Police have not said how the child died or how the “person of interest” might be connected to the child’s death or whether there actually was a missing person.
