A Hawaii couple and their three children died on Sunday in a suspected murder-suicide allegedly carried out by the father.
Honolulu police said a 46-year-old man fatally stabbed his 48-year-old wife, their 17- and 10-year-old daughters, and their 12-year-old son before taking his own life. Police said the slayings do not appear to be random even though a motive remains undisclosed, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.
Before the bodies were found, police reportedly got an anonymous call about an argument but nobody responded when officers arrived. Officers discovered the five bodies after a second 911 call was placed 45 minutes later.
KITV reported that a knife was recovered from the scene. The medical examiner is expected to release the decedents’ identities, though a timeline was not provided.
NBC News reported that Honolulu police are interviewing neighbors and reviewing security footage amid their ongoing investigation.
