A 17-year-old Texas girl was found dead on the side of the road Wednesday morning after she failed to return from taking a walk with a friend the night before.

The teen’s family told WOAI that they confronted the friend she’d been walking with, and he claimed he didn’t know where she went. The family began searching themselves and called San Antonio Police.

The girl’s naked body was found beneath a bridge, and police later released surveillance photos of a “person of interest” in the case, asking for help identifying and locating him.

It’s unclear if the person of interest is the same person as the friend the girl had been with the night before.

Police said they briefly questioned a person at the scene of the body but that person was not detained.
