A third teenager has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old man found dead earlier this week in a remote Utah desert.
Taylorsville Police said the 17-year-old boy, taken into custody Thursday morning, joins another 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy now charged with the death of Alex Franco, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
The other two boys appeared at a detention hearing on Wednesday when the judge revealed that Franco met with the teens to buy a gun and that the teens intended to rob him of the money he was using for the purchase, KSTU reported.
Investigators said that when Franco got into the white Jeep Liberty with the teens, an argument began, ending in a single gunshot, killing the 21-year-old.
Police said the 15-year-old later told his girlfriend that he killed Franco with a 9mm handgun, and the 17-year-old admitted driving the vehicle. Investigators said they don’t believe there are any outstanding suspects and said they consider the case “resolved.”
All three boys have been booked into the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center.
