Two people were found shot to death in their Low County South Carolina home on Friday, and police are investigating the case as a double murder.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said it was asked by family members to check on a relative at the home on Saint Helena Island. A 38-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman lived at the home and hadn’t been heard from in several days, which family said “was out of character.”
Deputies found the couple inside the home, dead from gunshot wounds.
“The circumstances surrounding the deaths are currently under investigation and preliminary information indicates that both were murdered,” the sheriff’s office said.
WTOC identified the victims as David Gardner and Christiana Alkire and said they had only recently moved into the home.
