A Virginia man intentionally rammed into two pedestrians Monday night, killing one of them, after having an argument with his father and storming out of the house with the keys to the car.
Chesterfield Police said that Daniel N. Anderson also called the Chesterfield Emergency Communications Center, “identified himself, and made multiple threatening statements, including threats to shoot a school, bomb a building, and assault police officers,” WTVR reported.
Anderson’s victims were rushed to the hospital after first responders arrived on scene, but 42-year-old Shaunda Bizzell did not survive. Family members said she was walking with her husband when Anderson hit them.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that Anderson, of the 2700 block of Amherst Ridge Loop, intentionally steered his vehicle toward the pedestrians,” police said. “Investigators arrested Anderson and charged him with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, making threats of death or bodily injury, and making threats to bomb or damage buildings. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.”
Anderson’s father, who was not identified, told WTVR that his son has a documented history of mental health problems and had an “episode” Monday afternoon. He told the station they argued before Anderson left, but he was unaware his son took the keys to the car and drove away.
