A South Carolina man is in custody after gunning down his wife and leading deputies on a high speed chase across Kershaw County.
LaQuincy Pollard, 51, hit speeds of more than 120 mph as he fled police on Highway 1 but eventually stopped at a gas station and surrendered, according to WLTX.
Police were called to the scene in Camden shortly before midnight on Thursday and found a woman critically injured by gunshots. She was taken to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. Friday.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Daysha Nicole Johnson, a mother of two, WIS said.
“Two young children had their lives changed forever tonight due to a horrible decision by someone they looked to as a protector, their father,” Kershaw County Sheriff Lee Boan said. “These precious, innocent children lost both of their parents tonight for no good reason. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Pollard was charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, failure to stop for blue lights, and other offenses.
