7 Juveniles Wounded in Late Night Indianapolis Shooting

Seven juveniles were wounded in a shooting outside a downtown Indianapolis mall Saturday night.

Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers patrolling the downtown area just after 11 p.m. heard gunshots near the Circle Centre Mall and responded to find six juveniles with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was later listed as stable, as were the other five. A seventh juvenile victim was later brought to the hospital and was also said to be in stable condition.

The victims ranged in age between 12 and 17, IMPD Deputy Chief Tanya Terry said, according to WTHR.

Investigators believe more than one shooter was involved, but they do not have any suspects.

The mall said it had closed at about 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Indianapolis has seen several mass shootings in recent weeks. Last weekend, a shootout between two off-duty officers working security at a bar and a suspect ended with the suspect dead and one of the officers and four other people wounded. In February, a woman was killed and four more people wounded when an argument at a Waffle House escalated into gunfire.

The city has also seen numerous shootings with only one or two victims in recent weeks.
