Missouri police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving three family members who were found fatally shot on Monday.

Kansas City police conducting a welfare check discovered the bodies of Jerel McGeachy Jr., 12, and his mother and father, Domonique McGeachy and Jerel D. McGeachy, both 38. Police believe McGeachy Jr. and Dominique McGeachy were fatally shot, while McGeachy Sr. — a Veterans Affairs police officer — shot himself, according to KMBC.

The Kansas City Star reported that McGeachy Jr. received media attention for reciting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches and for raising money to battle breast cancer.

Police said they are not looking for additional suspects as their investigation continues.
